Water Quality in Iowa

Expert speakers will include Chris Jones and Chuck Isenhart. Their bios are below

 Chris Jones is retired from the University Iowa where he worked as a
    Research Engineer at IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering, studying
    water quality in agricultural landscapes. Previous to UI, he worked
    at Des Moines Water Works and the Iowa Soybean Association. His
    research and writing has been featured in the Des Moines /Register/,
    Cedar Rapids /Gazette/, Kansas City /Star/ and /Civil Eats/. He is
    also the author of 60 scientific journal articles, several book
    chapters and the book, /The Swine Republic, Struggles with the Truth
    about Agriculture and Water Quality/. The book was selected by the
    Library of Congress as Iowa’s representative at the 2024 National
    Book Festival. He lives in Iowa City.


Chuck Isenhart of Dubuque is executive director of the Dubuque Area  Land and Water Legacy, a community-based conservation organization focusing on education, advocacy and coalition-building with other environmental and conservation-minded organizations and individuals. Through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, the Legacy raises funds to invest in projects supporting wildlife habitat.

Chuck was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives for 16 years until 2024. He served at various times on the committees for Environmental Protection (ranking member), Agriculture, Natural Resources, Agriculture/Natural Resources/Environmental Protection Appropriations (ranking member) and Health and Human Services Appropriations, among others.

He is also currently the author of the Iowa Public Policy Geek Substack blog and a small photography business, Awestruck Nature Photos.
