American Association of University Women (AAUW) Loess Hills Branch and
Concerned Citizens of Pottawattamie County (CCPC) will host the 2026 Southwest
Iowa Legislative Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 1, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at
the Council Bluffs Police Department Community Room, 1 Ezra Jackson Way.
The forum will give area voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking
to represent Southwest Iowa in the Iowa Legislature. All Democratic, Republican and
Independent candidates for Iowa House Districts 11, 15, 16, 19 and 20 have been
invited to participate.
Questions developed by AAUW Loess Hills will address voting rights, child care,
education, living wages and maternal care. CCPC questions will focus on clean
water, corporate polluters, affordable housing, homelessness and rural health
care access. Candidates will have up to two minutes to respond to each question.
The forum is free and open to the public.
The forum is sponsored jointly by two nonpartisan organizations committed to civic
engagement and informed participation in the community.
